Statement of Faith

We believe in:

  • GOD

    • We believe in the one living and true God, who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:5; Matthew 3:13-17

    • God is Creator of all things visible and invisible. Genesis 1-2; Nehemiah 9:6; Psalm 33:6 and 9; John 1:3; Revelation 4:11

    • God the Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ to the earth. Jesus is begotten of God; fully God and fully man; was born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life as He always did the Father’s will. Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:1-3 and 14; John 3:16; John 8:29 and 57-59; Romans 9:5; Philippians 2:7; Hebrews 4:15; 1 John 4:2;

    • The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity; He convicts us of sin and righteousness, illuminates God’s Word to us, regenerates sinners for salvation, permanently indwells believers, reminds us of all Jesus said, and empowers us to live God’s ways. Matthew 28:19; John 3:5-8; John 14:16-17; John 16:13-14; Acts 5:3-4; Romans 8:13; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 4:30

  • THE BIBLE

    • We believe that every original word in the Bible was inspired by God; it is our inerrant, authoritative, and sufficient guide for faith and daily living. John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 1:1-4; 2 Peter 1:20-21

    • The Bible is complete in form and content and should be studied and applied by all people. Proverbs 2:1-5; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 1 Peter 2:2

  • HUMANITY’S PROBLEM

    • We believe humanity was created by God in His image, and made to worship God and enjoy Him forever. Genesis 1:26-28; 3:8; Psalm 16; 66:4; 150:6; Isaiah 43:21; Matthew 4:10; John 4:23; Hebrews 13:15

    • Adam and Eve rebelled against God and thereby became corrupted with hearts that were sinfully rebellious toward God. Genesis 3; Psalm 51:5; Isaiah 53:6; Matthew 15:19; Romans 3:9-18; Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:1-3

    • All human beings (except for Jesus) are sinners; sin separates humanity from God, earns death for all sinners, and if left undealt with, leads to eternal separation from God in hell. Matthew 25:31-46; John 15:5; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:7-8 and 12; Romans 6:23; James 1:15

  • SALVATION AND RECONCILIATION

    • We believe eternal salvation is a gift of God's grace and we are declared righteous before Him when we receive this free gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ as the only One who can rescue us from sin. John 6:44; Acts 4:27-28; Romans 3:28; Galatians 4:4-5; Ephesians 2:8-9

    • Jesus Christ willingly gave His life on the cross, bearing the punishment for our sins by dying in our place, thereby satisfying the demands of the Law and appeasing God’s wrath. He was then raised from the dead and ascended into heaven. Isaiah 52:13-53:12; Matthew 28:1-10; Romans 3:21-26; Romans 4:24-25

    • We believe in the visible and personal return of Jesus Christ to earth when He will judge the living and the dead and will establish His eternal Kingdom. Daniel 7:13-14; Matthew 25:31-46; Acts 1:11; 2 Thessalonians 4:16-17

  • SANCTIFICATION

    • We believe Sanctification is the process by which, according to the grace and work of God, Christians increasingly grow in holiness, being transformed into the image of Jesus. This process is accomplished in the hearts and lives of believers by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, through God-ordained means – especially, the word of God, self-examination, self-denial, prayer, and Christian fellowship. Matthew 26:41; Luke 9:23; Romans 8:5; Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 3:18; 2 Corinthians 7:1; 2 Corinthians 13:5; Ephesians 1:3-4; Philippians 1:9-11; Philippians 2:12-13; Philippians 3:12-17; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-6; 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24; 1 Peter 2:2; 2 Peter 1:5-8; 2 Peter 3:18; 1 John 2:29

  • THE CHURCH

    • We believe that all true Christians since Pentecost have been united by the Holy Spirit into one spiritual body, the Church, of which Christ is the Head. Within the confines of history and location, Christians are to commit to joining together in local church congregations. Acts 2:41-47; 1 Corinthians 1:1-2

    • We believe that a local Christian church is a congregation of baptized believers, joined together by covenant in the faith, who love one another, observe the ordinances of Christ, are governed by His laws, and exercise the gifts, responsibilities, and privileges invested in them by His word. Matthew 18:17; Matthew 18:15-20; John 13:35; 1 Corinthians 4:17; 1 Corinthians 5:12-13; 1 Corinthians 14:12; Galatians 6:2; Ephesians 4:7; 1 John 4:21; 2 John 6

    • We believe that Jesus Christ is the head of His Church, and that He calls and empowers a plurality of Elders to oversee and shepherd the local church congregations under His lordship. Deacons are also called and empowered by the Lord to support the Elders in the ministry of the church. The qualifications and duties of Elders and Deacons are expressed by God in the Bible. Acts 14:23; Philippians 1:1; Colossians 1:18; 1 Timothy 3:1-16; Titus 1:5-11

    • We believe that all Christians and congregations are to engage in the fulfillment of the great commission given to us by Jesus prior to His ascension. Matthew 5:13-16; Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Corinthians 5:20

  •  THE ORDINANCES OF THE CHURCH

    • Believers are directed by Scripture to be baptized in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as a visible testimony of their faith in Christ, and to identify with a local community of believers. We believe baptism is a prerequisite to membership in this local church. Matthew 3:11-12; Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38; Acts 8:12; Acts 8:36-39; Acts 18:18; Galatians 3:27

    • We believe that Communion (the Lord’s Supper) was instituted by Jesus as a commemoration of His death upon the cross to save all believers. It is to be commemorated with bread and juice, accompanied by self-examination, thankfulness to Christ for His sacrifice, and hope in His future return. Matthew 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:18-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-34

  • LAST THINGS

    • We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. Matthew 16:27; Acts 1:9-11; Revelation 20:11-15

    • We believe in the bodily resurrection of every person, the final judgement, the eternal happiness of the righteous and the endless suffering of the wicked. Matthew 25:31-46; John 5:21-29; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

    • The current heavens and earth will pass away, and a new heaven and new earth will be created by God, where the righteous will enjoy eternal life with God Himself. Revelation 21:1-8
