Church Covenant

I want to formally make EFC my church home

The three priorities identified by English Fellowship Church (EFC) are: to nurture the church in unity; to know Jesus Christ more intimately; to make Him known more widely.

EFC is made up of people with a wide array of experiences and backgrounds, which brings great diversity in understanding what "membership" means. At the same time, we believe that God is a God of order and planning and that He desires structure within a local church and commitment to it.

English Fellowship Church invites authentic followers of Jesus Christ, who currently consider Ecuador to be "home," to join together in a mutual commitment expressed in a church covenant.

The covenant is not a statement of doctrine, although it is rooted in our biblical convictions. It is understood to be a promise or agreement. The EFC covenant is adapted from a common text used by many Bible-loving churches.

English Fellowship Church Covenant

Having been born again by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and having been justified on the grounds of His shed blood, and having confessed my faith, I willingly and joyfully enter into this covenant.

As EFC's purpose states, I commit to being a spiritually maturing imitator of Jesus Christ and through that commitment, I will seek to help others find salvation through Him.

By the power of the Holy Spirit, I commit to walk together in Christ-like love with others who have made this same commitment. I commit to honor EFC's discipline and ordinances and to contribute cheerfully and regularly to its financial, physical and prayer support.

I also commit, by the grace and power of God, to put away all bitterness, anger and evil speaking, to be kind to others, tenderhearted and forgiving, even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven me.

I commit to seek to care for those who are ill or in need and to remember them in prayer.

I believe that in its original text the Bible was inspired by God alone, is perfect, is totally sufficient and is the basis for daily living. I believe that it is profitable for teaching, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that I may be increasingly equipped for whatever God has for me to do.
