Mitad del Mundo - The Equator
About 15 miles north of Quito is the Equatorial Line Monument set on the equator, which was determined by Charles de la Condamine of France in 1735. You can take an elevator to the top of the observation platform and then walk down through the museum of Indian Cultures.
