Welcome Message
From The Pastor

I still remember what it felt like the first time I made my own choice to walk up a church’s steps. I was 24 and had never voluntarily turned to a church. Actually, I had only been in churches a handful of times before that. Looking back on it now, it is pretty clear that even though I didn’t realize it, God was stirring my heart to sense its need of Him. Something undefined was pushing me in but something else felt very uncomfortable with “the whole church thing.” 18 years and a million miles later, I know that it can be strange to visit a church for the first time. That is true if it is your first time in that particular church or your first time in a church, period!

I have noticed an interesting tension when it comes to churches in the year 2007. As a leader of a local church, I want people to feel comfortable here. At the same time, I also know that what God often wants to do in our hearts will make us, well, downright uncomfortable. I guess the best way to describe what we try to do at EFC, is to make church as “user-friendly” as possible. That is, to ease as many human discomforts as we can to try to set the stage for the things God wants to do in and with the people who come.

So you have some idea what you’re getting into, let me give you a brief look into what you might find on any given Sunday morning (although one thing we are trying to do is increase the level of expectation and anticipation by becoming increasingly unpredictable).

Our services are at 9:00 and 10:45 and are wide open to anyone and everyone. Summer schedule: one service on Sundays at 9:00AM. Check out the map on our site to find us. If you still have questions pop us an e-mail (efc@uio.satnet.net).
