(This li'l front page update may give a glimpse into me (Pastor Len), and from that, possible insights into EFC.)
There isn’t anything I have longed for more over the past several years than a deeper, fuller understanding of true “Sabbath.” That pursuit recently led me to surrender to something: I am uniquely able to sense God’s presence when I’m running. I am amazed how He gets through to me then…and many times He magnifies that through a variety of sermons/studies/lessons that come to my head and heart through a mini MP3 player that pulls a steady diet of digital audio from the Internet. God often “syncs” those with specific and graphic places where I am in “the journey.” That was definitely the case as I headed out for a run with a song echoing in my mind: “Holy fire, burn away my desire
for anything that is not of You
but is of me…”
It continued to play as I hit one of the trails into Parque Metropolitano – a part untouched by devastating fires in September, although it didn’t take long before I hit one of the scorched areas. Suddenly my soul was shaken deeply by the graphic picture and the weight of what my mind was singing/praying! I was hit hard by a sense that something(s?) really did need to be burned/stripped away; things inside me and things around me. Each step took me further into an audio message I had just downloaded that morning.
I began to think of Adam in Genesis 3, and it was as though God was luring me out of hiding (naked or not!).
As I continued to run through some of the most severely burned-out parts of the park, sweat mixed with tears – so other runners and hikers would not have known what was going on deep inside of me. The tears flowed from a bizarre mixture of pain and intense gratitude for what I was learning.
I could not convince someone to listen to that message any more than I could convince someone to run with me -- but if you have any part in any church anywhere, I believe pausing long enough to listen could take you places you really need to go. That is why I am wrapping this up with a link to it:
Nursery/EFCito/Childcare Service Opportunities
We are in need of helpers for the nursery, EFCito (children's church), and childcare during the Sunday Morning Studies. We'd like to put together a rotation of helpers to serve once a month. Please let us know if you're interested in serving this way at firstname.lastname@example.org
English Language Adventure (ELA) is our free English teaching ministry, which meets during our Sunday morning study time (11:20am-12:20pm). If you can speak English, you can help teach others to speak English! This is a great outreach ministry!
If interested, please let us know at email@example.com
FIVE LOAVES PANTRY
Five Loaves Pantry is our ministry to help serve those in need in our congregation by providing basic food items each week. We rely on donations from the church body, and would love your help. If you can, we accept donations of flour, rice, beans, oatmeal and sugar (0.5kg to 1kg bags). Bring them to service on Sunday and drop them off in the box. Thanks!

Calling all network gurus...
If you're a techie and know much about networks, we need your help! We would like to set up one of our computers as a server at EFC to facilitate Sunday morning services and other information sharing.
If this is something you might be able to help us out with, please e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org
